We can trace a sort of Via Francigena for cattle raised by the Vigna family: the ideal starting point is represented by the Domaine de Longeville in central France which hosts, located in the Allier hills, one of the most important groups of Aubrac breed suckler cows in Europe. From here and from the other French production sites, the calves are sent to the two Piedmontese centers of Cascina Ca ‘d’Olmo and Cascina Volta in Alessandria for the northern market and the two Tuscan centers of Ontaneta and Terzi d’Ombrone. , in the Grosseto Maremma, for central Italy. In the various farms, calves and heifers of the best French breeds and their crosses are bred: Limousine and Aubrac first of all but also Charolais and Blonde d’Aquitaine.
The latest market challenge taken up by the Vigna group is represented by the rediscovery of Italian meat breeds. In particular, thinking about the peculiarities of the ancient Maremmana breed in purity or cross, it has launched an original quality path which, through special structures and feedings, enhances subjects considered obsolete on the zootechnical level, giving consumers original flavors and sensations.
