ANIMAL WELFARE STANDARD

For the Vigna family, respect for animal welfare is not only dictated by the regulatory obligation but by the awareness that it is one of the decisive factors, on a par with the nutrition and management of the company, in order to achieve high production performance and obtain a excellent quality standard of the final product.

Over the years it has equipped itself with functional breeding facilities to achieve the highest standards of well-being: spacious and well-ventilated stables to avoid the stagnation of humidity and harmful gases, bedding, consisting mainly of straw, periodically replaced so that the bed is always dry. In recent years, to further improve the welfare of the animals housed in the stable, fans have been installed which, according to their programming, are activated to cool the environment by moving the air and spraying water.

In addition, the stables are equipped with windbreak nets to avoid, in winter, the cold air from undermining the health of the cattle.

The transport of the garments both from France and to Tuscany is carried out in respect of the animals in the shortest time and in conditions of absolute attention and safety. Our transporters have been selected through years of activity and collaboration. Upon arrival at the farm, the animals are unloaded into spacious stalls in the adaptation stalls which are carefully cleaned, washed and disinfected before each new entry. In this phase the animals are kept under strict veterinary control and specific vaccination and antiparasitic prophylaxis is implemented.

At the end of the adaptation period that varies from 20 to 30 days they move to the fattening facilities, where, after a careful and important selection for weight and physical characteristics, they are divided into boxes where space allows free movement. and rest.

The Vigna family, aware of the importance of correct behavior of the operators who are in daily contact with animals, asked specialists in the sector to draw up a specific “Manual and related guidelines for handling animals” which describes the rules to follow for all those who even only marginally come into contact with animals.
